A Sun Country Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Newark was forced to divert to Chicago on Friday after an unruly passenger caused a midair disturbance .
Witnesses say the man, who was later removed from the aircraft, shouted bizarre claims about “the plane is going down," being “gang chased” and “radiated” by gay people and they were giving him cancer, all while wearing more than a 15 masks in an attempt to protect himself.
At one point, he even declared, “Trump is here.” Between his outbursts, the passenger reportedly played a round of Candy Crush before resuming his loud declarations.
The situation was brought under control once the man announced that the “plane is going down.” Upon landing at O’Hare, the passenger was restrained by Chicago police and removed from the aircraft.
US Marshals questioned passengers before the flight resumed and reached Newark. Sun Country Airlines stated to the Tribune, “The flight landed without incident and the passenger in question was turned over to law enforcement and removed from the aircraft. We appreciate our passengers’ patience during the interruption to their travels.”
