NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a veiled dig at Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi , saying that they think that the "chair should rightfully be theirs."
While speaking at an event, PM Modi said that the "naamdaars" are not happy with the fact that people of the nation have blessed a poor mother's hardworking son and made him Prime Minister."
"They think that the chair should rightfully be theirs," PM Modi said.
"But you, the people of the nation, have blessed a poor mother's hardworking son and made him the Prime Minister. This fact is not sitting well with the entitled ones," he added.
This comes days after Tejashwi Yadav unilaterally declared himself as the CM face of the opposition INDIA bloc at Ara during "Voter Adhikar Yatra."
Addressing the rally in Ara town, the last stopover of the yatra, Tejashwi questioned the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar for "frequently copying his ideas" and described it as a "copycat government". Ridiculing the government for copying his ideas, he said that at present he was moving ahead while the govt was behind him.
"Tejashwi aage-aage, Sarkar pichhe-pichhe. Original CM chahiye ki duplicate?" (Tejashwi is moving ahead while the govt is following him from behind. Do you want a duplicate CM or the original CM?), Tejashwi asked the crowd.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also broke his silence with a sharp rebuttal over the Bihar rally row, after a viral video allegedly showed abusive remarks directed at his late mother.
Calling the remarks an insult not just to him but to "every mother, sister and daughter of the country," PM Modi said the people of Bihar shared his pain.
PM Modi also asked the voters to demand answers from RJD and Congress over the "insult of his mother."
"You should demand answers from RJD and Congress folks. From every street and neighbourhood, only one voice should be heard Insult to the mother... we won't tolerate, we won't tolerate...Attack on honour... we won't tolerate, we won't tolerate.. RJD's tyranny... we won't tolerate, we won't tolerate... Congress's assault... we won't tolerate, we won't tolerate... Disrespect to the mother... we won't tolerate, we won't tolerate..." PM Modi said.
His remarks came days after a video went viral on social media, purportedly showing unidentified men hurling abuses at PM Modi and his late mother from the stage of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga, held along with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, a key ally of the BJP in the upcoming state assembly polls, also condemned the incident.
In a post on X, he said, "During the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga, the use of highly inappropriate language against the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and his late mother from the platform of Congress and RJD is utterly deplorable, and I condemn it."
