Thiruvananthapuram: Peroorkada police on Wednesday registered a case against five people employed at an online platform for duping a man of Rs 11 lakh by offering high returns for investing in the platform.
The case was registered against Impetus Platform Omniverse, which does not have an office anywhere in the state. "It operates online and canvasses people to invest money in it through agents," said the police. "Between Aug and Dec 2023, the victim, a native of Thuruthu Moola, invested the money in the platform. But even after almost a year he neither received any profit nor were the accused willing to return the invested money. The victim then approached us with a complaint," said the police.
The case was registered against Pradeep, A J Prakash, Prabeesh, Prasan, and Shylaja under sections of IPC 406 for criminal breach of trust and 420 for cheating.
