The New York Yankees are taking major steps to ensure that the roster remains steady to maintain their winning streak. The latest step by the Yankees involves putting their $325 Million worth slugger, Giancarlo Stanton on a 60-day injury list. But, why did the Yankees put him on the list? And who’s going to replace him on the field? Besides, is there another player that the Yankees have their eyes on? We have all the insights here!
Giancarlo Stanton is officially on the injured listAs per the New York Yankees official statement, Stanton is now officially on the injured list for a total of 60 days. The reason behind this is Stanton suffering from elbow injuries which makes it difficult for the player to be on the field.
Will Stanton return? For now, there’s no surety on whether the slugger will return to the field or not. Besides, the Yankees have not given any statement on when Stanton might start his rehab assignment. Once he starts his rehab games, the chances of him returning to the field will be high. However, for now, he’s on rest for at least 60 days.
Looking into Stanton’s statistics, the slugger had a good season in 2024. With 27 home runs, Giancarlo Stanton had a hitting average of .233, an RBI of 72, .298 OBP, and .773 OPS. However, his elbow injuries prevented the slugger from appearing in the 2025 season.
Yankees claiming Bryan De La Cruz from the Atlanta BravesOn the other hand, the Yankees got their hands on Braves’ outfielder Bryan De La Cruz, whom the latter were looking to remove from their roster. Though Cruz is currently put in the Yankees’ Triple-A team, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, there are chances of seeing the outfielder on the Yankees soon.
With their slugger on the bench, and a new potential outfielder in the scene, Yankees are taking calculative steps to ensure that they remain in the top team list. Coming to their performance, the Yankees are performing quite brilliantly, winning a total of 18 matches this season, setting new records by opening matches with home runs, and having a solid offense even though they don’t have Juan Soto anymore. Will this new change help the Yankees win more matches? Only the upcoming matches will tell.
