What Went Wrong for Keaton Mitchell?

The good rookie season of Mitchell was sabotaged in Week 15 last season after he suffered a severe knee injury while playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game. Mitchell suffered an ACL injury when Andrew Wingard tackled him. It would keep him out of the rest of the season. Jumping to July 2024, the Ravens placed him on PUP, which meant he would not take the field for at least the first four games of the season in 2024 while rehabilitating.

Undrafted in 2023, Mitchell had made a name for himself during the Ravens' preseason: even outscoring veteran Melvin Gordon to get a spot on the roster. And to his credit, Keaton Mitchell was pretty generous with much hope given to fantasy owners with 396 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and a tremendous average of 8.4 yards in just eight games.

How Is Mitchell Doing Now?

There has been some good news lately on the recovery front from Mitchell. On Monday, he made a posting that is as exciting to Ravens fans as it is to fantasy football managers: He tweeted: "Blessing to see 20+mph again #induetime thank you." meaning he is definitely coming back strong. He will not play this week, but based on this post, Mitchell might return very soon.

Why Does Mitchell's Return Matter?

The Ravens have been off to a rough start this season sitting at 0-2, so it'll be interesting if the return of Mitchell spells an end to this losing streak. His speed and agility give this offence a new dimension as Baltimore rides star running back Derrick Henry quite heavily into an offence. If he can get back up to speed, he will not only be helping the chances of the Ravens but also any owner with him on his fantasy football roster.

What's Next for the Ravens?

The Ravens need to get the Dallas Cowboys out of their way to avoid a season-trimming defeat in Week 3. Mitchell is still not ready, but it's good news that he's recovering. The game can be watched at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 22, on Fox, or streamed live on Fubo.
