MMA coach Morne Visser confirms Dricus Du Plessis not fighting at UFC 317 while dismissing injury rumors - “We are waiting for the contract”

South African fighter Dricus Du Plessis recently posted on his Instagram account, dismissing the rumors of his chin injury and subsequent pullout from scheduled fights. The fighter even went on to counter the statements made about him by the Russian fighter Khamzat Chimaev earlier this week on the social media platform X. In a recent talk with Submission Radio, Plessis’ coach, Morne Visser , legitimized the words of the fighter while also confirming that the fighter is not appearing at UFC 317 and the team has planned something else instead.

However, the recent post made by the South African fighter has cleared the air on the presumed pullout and instead teased the fans for an exciting upcoming bout.

Coach Morne Visser, in his recent talk with Radio Submission, validated the words of the fighter. Visser shared his first reaction to the rumors in the interview.


“Obviously it was a bit of a joke. Because we have been talking to the UFC. And, um myself and Dricus and the UFC, we all have been on the same page about the whole thing. We haven’t signed a contract. The fight was never confirmed. We were talking about it man. And no injuries man. We are actually waiting for the contract.”



Dricus’ coach went on to confirm that the fighter is not stepping inside the Octagon at UFC 317 and instead the team is planning for something else, soon to be announced officially. “It’s going to be soon. Definitely not gonna be International Fight Week. They have got something else planned for that. I am sure everybody knows about what they have got planned…We are waiting for the contract. It’s a done deal”
