Makoto Kokushi has recently shared his love for the Los Angeles Lakers. He has been loyal to the organization, witnessing the recent history of the last 20 years. “I've been a Lakers fan for over 20 years,” Kokushi said in a statement.

“In Japan, most Lakers games take place around lunchtime because of the time difference. I usually check the scores briefly during work breaks and then watch the full replay on my commute home or after I get back. It's not easy to avoid spoilers—sometimes even the train monitors show the final score!”

The superfan added, “What I love most about being a Lakers fan is watching superstars rise to the challenge on a team that's always expected to win. From Shaq and Kobe, to Kobe and Pau, to LeBron and AD—and now, even Luka and our very own Japanese superstar Rui Hachimura—Lakers legends have always performed under pressure that's hard for us to imagine. Their mentality and dedication often inspire me in my own work and life. Being a Lakers fan reminds me to stay focused, keep pushing, and never back down when things get tough.”

The Lakers acknowledged the emotional statement and gave him a wonderful shoutout on their social media. “Congrats to THE Lakers Greatest Fan of All Time, Makoto Kokushi,” the Lakers official handle wrote on X. In an image, the organization also wrote, “We have found the Lakers GFOAT.”

Lakers also shared a few stories on their Instagram, which are dedicated to Kokushi. “To celebrate winning #LakersGFOAT, Makoto got the chance to tour the Lakers facility!” the caption of one of the posts reads.
