“He's special”: Cleveland Guardians' coach and former player Stephan Vogt praises Stevan Kwan for victory against White Sox

Back in 2022, when MLB legend and 40-year-old Stephen Vogt was finishing his career, then, the left fielder, Steven Kwan, began his career as a rookie. Vogt recalls how he remembered that Kwan could become a game-changer in the baseball field.

“He’s a menace, and you know that when you game plan against him, He has a number of ways to beat you, and I'm just glad I get to watch it now.”

Further, Vogt said:


“Kwany’s special, We talk about it, it seems like, every day. Just what he means to this lineup, to this team, the consistency that he brings and his ability to beat you in many different ways. So [he’s] a complete hitter. That was fun. It was a fun day for Kwany.”

Stevan Kwan hit his first homer of the 2025 season on Thursday, while playing against the Chicago White Sox with a 6-1 score.

Regarding the brilliant game, Steven Kwan said it was a beautiful moment. He said:

“It’s huge for momentum. Just seeing some wins come down, get some confidence for all the boys. We did a lot of good things, so hopefully we can take that to the next series and beyond.”

Kwan further added that he feels fresher now, he said:

“Maybe just the body is feeling a little fresher, As the season goes on, you get little nicks and some sore stuff. I think coming fresh out the gate, riding that adrenaline, everything's really new, is a good start. But I’ve got to make sure to stay on top of recovery and be as fresh as I can every day."

Teammate Kyle Manzardo praises Stevan Kwan Meanwhile, Kyle Manzardo also praised Stevan Kwan and said he’s just excellent at what he does. He said:

“They don't make many like Steven Kwan anymore, man, He's an awesome dude to hit behind because he is always going to be on base or in scoring position or something. Having a guy like that at the top of the order is so crucial to our offense.”
