MOHALI: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) declared the results of the Class VIII examination for the academic year 2024-2025 on Friday. A total of 290,471 candidates from 10,471 schools appeared for the eighth-grade examination, with 282,627 students being promoted. The overall pass percentage for this result stands at 97.30%.
According to PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh, Puneet Verma of Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Model Town, Hoshiarpur, secured the top position by achieving a perfect score of 600/600. Navjot Kaur of Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia, Faridkot, also scored 600/600, placing second. Meanwhile, Navjot Kaur of Guru Nanak Public Senior Secondary School, Channan Ke (Adda Nath Di Khui), Amritsar, claimed third place with 99.83% marks.
Although both Puneet Verma and Navjot Kaur scored 600/600, PSEB’s ranking policy states that in cases of equal marks, the younger candidate is awarded the higher rank.

Dr. Amarpal Singh, while discussing the results, stated that this year's board examinations were conducted with greater rigor and transparency than before. He further emphasized that several measures are being taken to enhance the quality of question papers and improve the curriculum to make future board examinations more effective.
The full details of the candidates and the results have been uploaded on the official PSEB website at www.pseb.ac.in and www.indiaresults.com. For candidates who were not promoted, supplementary examinations will be held in June 2025. Concerned students must fill out a separate examination form, and the schedule will be notified through school logins and various newspapers.
