Two of India’s premier management institutes, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) and the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore), are dream schools for many aspiring management students. In the NIRF Rankings 2024, they both hold ranks in the top 10; IIM Lucknow at number 7 and IIM Indore at number 8. In fact, both of the IIMs have secured a position in top 10 since 2020, affirming their status as one of the best management institutes in India. So, what sets these institutes apart? When comparing the placement records of IIM Indore and IIM Lucknow over the academic years 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23, several key differences emerge. IIM Lucknow has consistently offered higher median salaries compared to IIM Indore. In 2020-21, IIM Lucknow saw 507 students graduate with a median salary of Rs 23.5 lakh, while IIM Indore had 604 graduates with a slightly lower median salary of Rs 22.6 lakh. The gap in salaries widened in 2021-22, with IIM Lucknow's 515 graduates receiving a median salary of Rs 29 lakh, significantly higher than IIM Indore’s 565 graduates, who earned Rs 24.09 lakh.

In the most recent academic year, 2022-23, IIM Lucknow again maintained its lead in terms of salary, with 591 graduates receiving a median salary of Rs 30 lakh. In comparison, IIM Indore had 639 students placed out of 697 graduates, with a lower median salary of Rs 21.6 lakh. Additionally, 7 students from IIM Indore opted for higher education, reflecting a slight divergence in career paths.

Overall, while both institutes maintain a strong placement record, IIM Lucknow consistently outpaces IIM Indore in terms of the median salary offered to its graduates, signaling stronger placement outcomes and market demand for its students across the three years analyzed.
