Vadodara: A murder convict who jumped parole was arrested by detection of crime branch (DCB) sleuths in Anand. Asim Solanki had been arrested in 2013, after he and his accomplices killed a man in Botad. Police said Solanki was sentenced to life imprisonment at the trial, after which he was imprisoned at Lajpore Jail in Surat.
According to police, Solanki and his accomplices had gotten into a fight with the victim in Botad in March 2013. The victim had a dispute with the accused in the past, which led to the fatal confrontation. Solanki attacked the victim with a bladed weapon while his accomplice shot him.
Police said the accused also stole the victim's licensed revolver and phone. According to police, Solanki got parole for 15 days in April 2023 and didn't return to jail when it ended. Surat cops then launched a search for him and informed Vadodara police.
Investigators received intelligence that Solanki was hiding at Bakrol in Anand, after which a team was sent there. Solanki was apprehended and handed over to Surat police.
