NEW DELHI: Himanshi Narwal, wife of Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal who was killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, has thanked the government for its military response but urged that the fight against terrorism must not stop here.

Speaking to PTI, Himanshi said her husband joined the defence forces with a vision of a peaceful, terror-free India. “My husband wanted to protect peace and innocent lives. He wanted a country free from hatred and terrorism. I am thankful to the government, but I request them not to end it here. This should be just the beginning of ending terrorism in our country,” she said in an emotional video message.

Lt Narwal, 26, had married Himanshi barely three weeks before the attack. The couple was on their honeymoon in Pahalgam when terrorists opened fire on tourists, killing 26 people including Narwal.

His mother, Asha Narwal, also expressed support for the Indian government's response, which included coordinated strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, as part of Operation Sindoor.

The strikes targeted key bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.

“It is a very good thing that (Prime Minister) Modi has avenged the Pahalgam attack. We are with the government. The entire family and the country stands with them,” she told reporters in Karnal. She added that the Army must continue to respond firmly so that incidents like the Pahalgam attack are not repeated. “Those who were martyred have received justice,” she said.
