Faridabad: A JCB driver and a farmer were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl while she was on her way to school last week.
Police said the incident occurred on May 3, when the girl, who lives in a village in the city, was forced into a car by two men while she was walking to school around 7.30am. The men drove to a deserted area, where one of them raped her.
They dropped her near her village around 2.30pm that day.
The minor told her family about the abduction and rape the next day, and they approached police. An FIR was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and BNS Section 137 for abduction.
Investigators said the minor told them that the car did not have a registration number plate. Cops scanned CCTV footage from the area to look for the car and found one that matched the description in Chhainsa village of Faridabad.
"Through intelligence, the accused were identified. Both were later arrested and the car used in the crime was seized. A forensics team has inspected the crime scene for further evidence," a police officer said.
Key suspect Intezaar (24), a JCB driver, told police during interrogation that he hatched the plan while working near the girl's village and seeing her walk to school. His associate Vikas (20), a farmer, was driving the car.
"The accused will be produced in court, and further legal action will be taken as per the law," DCP (Ballabhgarh) Rajkumar Walia said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
