Cedar Point, the renowned amusement park in Ohio, announced on Thursday that it will debut a new tilt ride named Siren’s Curse in 2025. With this ride, North America's tallest, longest, and fastest tilt coaster will soon be history. With a height of 160 feet and a top speed of 58 mph, Siren's Curse is expected to be an exhilarating addition to the park's lineup of world-class roller coasters.

The Name: A Thematic BackstoryThe backstory of the name Siren’s Curse draws from local lore and Greek mythology. According to the ride’s narrative, sirens from Lake Erie, known for luring sailors to their doom with their enchanting songs, will emerge to captivate riders. This mythological theme is reinforced with on-board audio that plays the "sound of the siren" and high-tech LED lighting to enhance the visual experience. This thematic approach aims to immerse riders in a mythic escape scenario. Announcement and TeaserThe announcement was made on Cedar Point’s website, accompanied by a short video posted on YouTube. The video, just over a minute long, featured music and an animation illustrating the ride's concept. It concluded with the tagline, "ANSWER THE CALL," followed by the ride's name in stylized text and the message "Coming 2025" with Cedar Point’s branding as "The Roller Coaster Capital of the World." Ride Specifications and ExperienceSiren's Curse is a two-minute ride that is intended to provide an exciting experience. The layout of the attraction consists of a roughly 3,000-foot-long twisting, spinning track with a steep plunge. A high-speed "triple-down" feature with twisted and overbanked portions of track, two 360-degree zero-gravity barrel rolls, and thirteen seconds of weightless airtime are all waiting for riders. To guarantee safety, the ride will have a flexible vest restraint and an over-the-shoulder lap bar. Historical ContextRecord-breaking roller coasters have been introduced at Cedar Point in the past. Notable historical attractions include the tallest and fastest coaster, Magnum XL-200, which made its debut in 1989 at over 200 feet and 70 mph; the tallest, fastest, and longest inverted coaster, Raptor; and the tallest and fastest complete-circuit coaster, Millennium Force, which debuted in 2000 at 310 feet and 93 mph. Until it was redesigned, the Top Thrill Dragster, which debuted in 2003, was the fastest and highest coaster, clocking in at 120 mph and 420 feet. Location and AccessibilityNear the marina in the park, Siren's Curse will be located across from Iron Dragon. Guests must be 48 inches tall or taller to be able to ride. Cedar Point's Commitment to SafetyThe park highlighted the safety aspects of the ride in response to any concerns expressed by stakeholders and tourists. To guarantee rider security throughout the encounter, the design incorporates a flexible vest restraint system and an over-the-shoulder lap bar.
