Pakistan will be taking on England in a highly anticipated Test series, but before that, the home team's batters reportedly requested a flat pitch to extend their home advantage. However, coach Jason Gillespie swiftly turned down their request.Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali, on his YouTube channel, claimed that some of the batters had demanded a flat pitch from the curator. However, Gillespie did not budge and remained adamant that the pitch should remain in its original condition, with some grass on it."I will give you an inside story. Jason Gillespie has handed a shut-up call to Pakistan batters. He wants the pitch to remain the same that has been prepared by the groundsman," Ali said."Pakistan batters wanted to cut off the grass to make it a flat pitch. The pitch curator and Gillespie want to play on the same pitch. I would be really happy if the match took place on a grassy surface and our bowlers took wickets," he added.Gillespie has been a tough taskmaster in red-ball cricket. In a recent interview, he issued a stern warning about his team’s fitness. "We can't afford to have players in international cricket who are not fit or strong enough to negotiate the rigours of the game," he said after the nightmarish defeat against Bangladesh."What I've learned from the Bangladesh series is that we've got some wonderful players, but we need to be more consistent. We've got the skills but we need to keep fine-tuning them," he added.
