A deputy was injured during an officer-involved shooting in National City on Friday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The incident took place around 2 p.m. on Mile of Cars Way near Hoover Avenue, leading to a significant law enforcement presence that continued for hours.At least five gunshots were heard, according to witnesses at the site. They claimed to have witnessed a woman being held at gunpoint in a white Honda. Following the arrest, officers were seen pointing their weapons at the car. A cross-departmental agreement means that San Diego police will conduct the probe. Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department were engaged in the shooting. At least six police enforcement cars were still at the area around 4 p.m., several of them bearing the Sheriff's Department emblem. Officers from National City were also present and making contributions to the ongoing inquiry.The wounded officer was sent to UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center, according to confirmation from the authorities.
