This Morning's Cat Deeley reels over 'controversial' hack and admits 'this is not right'

Cat Deeley was far from impressed during Thursday's episode of This Morning, as she and co-host Ben Shephard discussed unconventional methods of brewing tea.

The segment kicked off with a debate on tea-making preferences, which took an odd turn when Ben pondered the possibility of using an air fryer to make a cuppa.

A clip rolled showing a woman using the kitchen hack to brew tea in her air fryer, prompting Cat to express her disgust: "Urgh, it'll smell of chips and salmon."

As the video demonstrated the woman adding milk and sugar before placing it in the air fryer for six minutes, Ben pointed out that boiling a kettle would be quicker.

Despite reservations, Juliet Sear was tasked with replicating the air fryer tea-making process live on air. Cat didn't hide her disdain as she commented: "This is not right!"

Juliet then deviated from the video by adding milk at the start instead of midway, leading Cat to exclaim:"Oh controversial!"

With Ben admitting the experiment was making him queasy, he swiftly moved the show to commercials, promising viewers they'd sample the results after the break, reports the Mirror.

Juliet couldn't help but chuckle as she retrieved the beverages from the air fryer, as she confessed: "The teabags look a bit toasted!"

Nick Ferrari didn't hold back on his observations about the brew's hue, quipping: "That looks like the colour of toilet water to me."

The team's unanimous grimaces upon tasting said it all, they were not impressed with the tase.

Cat grimaced, noting the tea was excessively milky, while Ben simply stated: "It's just lukewarm."

Sonia Sodha delivered the final verdict with a toast to tradition: "Long live the kettle."

During their discussion, Ben revealed how thorough he was while making a cup of tea at home with his family Annie.

He said: "You leave the bag, and you set the timer it has to brew for four minutes exactly. We have a timer on the fridge, so you hit the timer and the bag goes in."

While Cat said she likes a builder's tea with half a sugar if she feels like treating herself.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
