Melania Trump was never going to leave her husband Donald, despite the legal turmoil that engulfed the president last year. This is according to her former press secretary and close aide, Stephanie Grisham, who provided a rare glimpse into the former First Lady's mindset during a CNN interview at the time.
Grisham appeared on Erin Burnett OutFront just hours after Donald Trump's ex-lawyer and longtime fixer Michael Cohen took the stand in a dramatic courtroom session.
Cohen's testimony touched on Trump's personal affairs and Melania's reactions to the scandals that rocked their marriage, including alleged hush money payments. However, Grisham insisted Melania has always been aware of who she married.
This follows Melania's shocking confession about a change in her relationship with Donald where she admitted 'it's over'.
"She knew what she was getting into," Grisham told CNN. "She may have been concerned about how it affected his future image, but she wasn't going anywhere.", reports the Mirror US.
At the time, Trump was on trial over accusations he falsified business records ahead of the 2016 election to silence damaging stories.
The allegations suggest he silenced adult film star Stormy Daniels with hush money regarding a purported sexual encounter. Trump has always denied all affair allegations and any intimate relations with Ms Daniels, reports the Mirror.
Trump was sentenced to an unconditional discharge - meaning he avoided prison, fines or probation, but remained a convicted felon.

Ms Grisham expanded on the situation, stating: "Could Melania Trump be angry right now about all of this being out there and about their personal lives and it's humiliating? Absolutely on a personal level."
During the proceedings, Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen testified that Trump seemed indifferent to his wife's potential reaction upon discovering an alleged affair, appearing more focused on the campaign.
Cohen disclosed that he questioned Trump about how the story might impact his marriage to Melania.
Cohen shared that Trump reassured him, saying: "Don't worry," and added: "How long do you think I'll be on the market for? Not long."
Cohen interpreted this comment as a clear sign that "this was all about the campaign."
Ms Grisham added her thoughts: "I think that comment [from Trump] to Cohen rang absolutely true.
"She's happy, she's got a very good life.
"She's not going anywhere, that's been proven. And so I absolutely believe he said something like that to Michael Cohen."
