A woman has been seriously injured after being shot during a midnight attack at a house in Dudley. West Midlands Police said two shots were fired at an address on Priory Road shortly after midnight.
One of the bullets struck a woman inside the property, leaving her badly hurt. She was taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition. A manhunt is now underway as detectives work to identify those responsible for the shooting.
The road remains closed on Thursday morning while forensic teams comb the scene for evidence.
Police have increased patrols in the area in a bid to reassure the local community.
Officers are urging residents to check any dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage that could help the investigation.
Witnesses are being asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 66 of July 3.
