Man Utd players showed true colours with reaction to Erik ten Hag being denied farewell

Several Manchester United players reached out to Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman was denied the opportunity to say goodbye in person, according to reports. United sacked Ten Hag last Monday, a day after the controversial 2-1 defeat against West Ham United at the London Stadium.

According to the , some players had grown fed up with Ten Hag's ways and were relieved that the club pulled the trigger on his two-and-a-half-year reign.

However, others were regretful of the manner in which his era ended, and a number of his stars are said to have been in touch since the bombshell decision.

Multiple United players sent Ten Hag well wishes and thanks on social media after his departure was made official last week.

After Sunday's 1-1 draw against Chelsea, Bruno Fernandes his regret about the outcome and confirmed he had contacted Ten Hag to apologise.

"I spoke to him and I apologised if there was anything I could have done better," he told Sky Sports. "I feel very disappointed that he's gone.

"I wasn't scoring goals, obviously that's not good for me, and the team are not scoring many goals and I feel responsible."

Fernandes added: "I'm usually a player who gets a lot of goals and a lot of assists, and it was not coming, so I feel disappointed with that.

"But I always gave 100 per cent to help him and the main thing for me is that he is aware of that. And that's something at least that I can keep in my head."
