The transfer window is closed but Manchester United could still do a number of deals over the next 24 hours. They had a busy summer period, with a high turnover of players in both directions. Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha arrived as marquee signings while teenage defender Diego Leon was snapped up for the future.
Several players have also left United, with Alejandro Garnacho joining Chelsea and Antony returning to Real Betis on a permanent deal. Others, including the likes of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, have departed on loan. There is still time for the Red Devils to announce a number of deals, though, with the next 24 hours set to be crucial.
They are yet to confirm the £18.2m signing of Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens after ending their interest in Aston Villa stopper Emiliano Martinez. The former has reportedly signed his contract and undergone a medical at Old Trafford.
Jadon Sancho is also thought to be close to joining Aston Villa on loan until the end of the campaign. While the move is yet to be announced, there is an expectation it will get done very shortly.
United were in talks over another loan exit for Tyrell Malacia, who was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the window. He was nearing a temporary switch to Spanish side Elche but the deal collapsed at the eleventh hour.
Although the transfer window is closed, the defender could still leave Old Trafford with clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia having another 12 days to add to their squads.
In terms of incomings, United could still recruit from the pool of free agents. There are no time constraints on signing players without clubs, meaning there would be no mad rush for the Red Devils to take this approach.
During the window, they failed to land a new midfielder despite being interested in a move for Carlos Baleba. It quickly became apparent that a deal would be too expensive, given that Brighton were thought to be demanding a nine-figure transfer fee.
A number of midfielders are currently free agents, with former Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain perhaps the pick of the bunch. They might also be tempted to sign Josh Brownhill in the event of an injury crisis or if desperation starts to creep in.
Kurt Zouma is available following his release from West Ham and could be an option if United want to add more defensive depth. Further forward, they could take a punt on ex-Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech but a move for the 32-year-old would seem unlikely.
It remains to be seen how United's new arrivals will settle in, with Ruben Amorim desperate for his summer signings to gel quickly after a disappointing start to the campaign.
