A knife attack in Hamburg, Germany has left several people injured as police swarm the scene. Initial reports suggested eight people had been injured following a major incident at Hamburg Central Station in the north of the country on Friday.
However, Hamburg police have since clarified that three victims are in critical condition, three are seriously injured, and six have "slight" injuries, as per the German news outlet . The attack is understood taken place at around 6pm local time (5pm BST).
Police said they had arrested the suspect, a 39-year-old woman. Hamburg Police said in a post on X: "According to initial findings, a person allegedly injured several people with a knife in the main station. The suspect was arrested by police."
In an earlier post, police in the port city wrote: "A major police operation is currently underway at Hamburg's #CentralStation!", according to a Google translation. It added: "We are investigating the incident and will provide further information here shortly."
