'Diva' Meghan Markle savaged by expert claiming Duchess couldn't stand 'her clipped wings'

did not stay in the Royal Family as she didn't like "her wings being clipped", a royal expert has claimed.

Jennie Bond, former BBC royal correspondent, has insisted that the Duchess of Sussex could have been a "credit" to the Firm but instead was unable to stick it out.

In the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, the duchess, 43, claims that her time in the Royal Family

The couple also blamed press intrusion as being one of the main factors behind their decision to step back as senior royals and leave the UK for a life in California instead.

Jennie Bond believes there is more to it than this, with Meghan instead not liking the restrictions that can come with being part of the Royal Family.


Jennie put this down to the "diva" traits of the duchess. She told Bella: "Meghan could have been such a credit to the royal family - she is an independent, forthright woman with her own career, her own thoughts, her own charities and causes.

"She could have been exactly what a modern monarchy needs. I think the monarchy didn't act as carefully as they should have done.

"But Meghan is by all accounts a bit of a diva. She didn't like what she saw, and she didn't like her wings being clipped."

Phil Dampier opined: "To be honest, I don't think she ever intended to stay in the Royal Family.

"Unfortunately, I think she was prepared to have a wonderful wedding costing millions of pounds, but I don't think her heart was ever really in it, and I think she always planned to leave, so the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and that's what we're seeing now."
