A huge fire erupted at the site of a former RAF base in Oxfordshire, as witnesses heard multiple explosions. Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the site as Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 6.39pm last night. Local residents were warned to stay in doors with many businesses remaining closed this weekend. The tens of crew which attended the blaze described the incident as "serious".
Roads were closed off in the surrounding areas as the cause of the fire is still unknown. Kieran McGurk, a product director who lives opposite Bicester Motion said he heard "multiple bangs" and saw a plume of smoke while out walking. The site is home to more than 50 specialist businesses focused on classic car restoration and engineering.
