
Bhubaneswar: Ishan Kishan’s injury has opened the door for young Odisha wicketkeeper-batter Aashirwad Swain.
The 20-year-old Swain, who was among stand-byes, has been drafted into the main East Zone squad as replacement for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, to be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru.
Kishan, who has played 2 Tests, 27 ODIs and 32 T20Is for Team India, is recovering from a minor injury he suffered in the UK during his stint with Nottinghamshire.
Swain is the second Odisha player in the East Zone squad, as opener Sandeep Pattanaik was already selected. Swastik Samal is on the stand-by list.
East Zone will face North Zone in the quarterfinal from August 28.
