Kamakhyanagar/Boudh: Over 20 people were injured when a passenger bus overturned at Kantiokteni under Tumusingha police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district in the early hours of Friday
According to sources, the accident took place when the bus carrying around 30-40 passengers was en route to Bhubaneswar from Dhenkanal’s Parjang. The bus overturned and fell into Rengali Sakha canal after the driver reportedly lost control over the speeding vehicle on the muddy, uneven and narrow stretch. It was not the usual route of the bus.
The bus driver and conductor fled the scene soon after the accident.
On being informed, Kamakhyanagar fire services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operations. The injured have been admitted to Anlabereni community health centre (CHC).
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
