Goyal and Raimondo Explore Tech and Trade Growth at US-India CEO Forum

Washington: The United States hosted the 6th meeting of the U.S.-India CEO Forum, co-chaired by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal. This Forum serves as a platform for leaders from the U.S. and Indian business communities to come together, develop joint recommendations, and enhance bilateral commercial ties, aiming to expand trade and investment between the two countries.

Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo co-chaired the 6th US-India CEO Forum, a key platform for discussing trade and commerce between the two nations. Government representatives from both countries and Forum members reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade, fostering inclusive economic growth, and promoting innovation.

The meeting, hosted by the US on Wednesday, also emphasized building a resilient partnership between the two countries. During a lunch on the sidelines of the event, Goyal and Raimondo discussed prospects for collaboration in critical sectors such as defense, space, semiconductors, telecom, artificial intelligence (AI), and clean energy.

Goyal shared on X that their discussions also focused on potential US investments in the development of 20 new industrial cities in India, aimed at fostering mutual growth.

The US-India CEO Forum brings together leaders from Indian and American businesses to provide joint recommendations for strengthening commercial ties and expanding trade and investment between the two countries. It includes representatives from 22 US companies and 25 Indian companies. James Taiclet, CEO of Lockheed Martin, and N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, serve as Private Sector co-chairs for the 2023–2024 period.

The Forum reviewed its achievements, including the launch of the Network for Innovation and Harnessing Investments and Trade for Inclusive Growth (NIHIT) platform. This publicly accessible platform aims to facilitate online knowledge sharing and networking among startups and small businesses from both countries. NIHIT has already organized four workshops focused on capacity building and skilling in areas such as cybersecurity, digital technologies, and AI, with over 1,000 participants.
