AAP Unlikely to Contest Maharashtra, Jharkhand Elections, Focuses on Strengthening INDIA Bloc

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to stay out of the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, as the party is keen on focusing its efforts on the Delhi polls and strengthening the opposition alliance, INDIA bloc. Sources indicate that while AAP's Maharashtra unit is interested in contesting the elections, the party leadership is unlikely to approve it, prioritizing its strategy to avoid splitting anti-BJP votes.

“Our focus is on Delhi, and we do not want to create confusion among voters in Maharashtra, which could lead to a split in the anti-BJP vote,” sources said.

On October 11, Sandeep Pathak, AAP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP, held a crucial meeting to discuss booth preparations for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The meeting was attended by party office bearers from the state to the booth level. Pathak emphasized the importance of fortifying every booth and further strengthening the party's already robust organizational structure in Delhi.

“AAP is fully prepared for the assembly elections. As the elections near, the BJP will again conspire against us. We must stay focused and avoid falling into their traps, continuing our work for the people of Delhi,” Pathak said during the meeting.

Assembly elections in Delhi are expected to take place in early 2025. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured eight.

Previously, AAP’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, shared his insights on election strategies, particularly emphasizing the importance of not being overconfident. He urged party workers to take every election seriously and put in their best efforts for the upcoming Delhi elections.
