From August 15, 2025, there will be a charge on online IMPS (Instant Money Payment Service) transfer, which was completely free till now. IMPS is a real-time fund transfer facility, through which you can send money instantly 24×7 and 365 days a year. A maximum of ₹5 lakh can be transferred at a time through IMPS.
Let us tell you that the change made by SBI will be applicable only on online transactions and nominal charges will be added in some slabs. However, these charges will still not be levied on some accounts. Let us know how much fee has been levied by the bank on which slab.
New charges on online IMPS
If you do IMPS transfer through internet banking, mobile banking or UPI, then now you will have to pay a fee. According to the new rule, there will be no charge on transactions up to ₹ 25,000. ₹ 2 + GST will be charged from ₹ 25,001 to ₹ 1 lakh, ₹ 6 + GST from ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 2 lakh and ₹ 10 + GST from ₹ 2 lakh to ₹ 5 lakh. Earlier all these online transactions were completely free but now charges will be applicable on every slab.
Relief to salary account holders
This charge will not be applicable to customers having special Salary Package Account (like DSP, CGSP, PSP, RSP, CSP, SGSP, ICGSP, SUSP) of Government or Private institutions.
No change in IMPS from branch
For IMPS from the branch, the fee charged as before will be ₹2 to ₹20 + GST, depending on the transfer amount.
