Asia Cup Final: Pakistan's bad luck against India continued in the Asia Cup and they lost their third match against India in the tournament, however this time it was the Asia Cup 2025 trophy and it slipped out of the hands of Pakistani captain Salman Agha. Pakistan lost the Asia Cup final by five wickets and India won its ninth Asia Cup title in history. Even after this victory, India refused to accept the trophy from Pakistani minister Mohsin Naqvi, because Naqvi is the President of the Asian Cricket Council as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board. Salman Agha threw the runner-up cheque in front of Mohsin Naqvi
One hour delay due to PakistanThe trophy presentation ceremony began nearly an hour late due to the Pakistani team's antics. During this time, Naqvi waited on the podium for the players. An ACC official told Naqvi that if he attempted to present the winner's trophy, the Indian players would not come to receive it. Nevertheless, the shameless Naqvi remained on the podium, and India refused to accept the trophy from him. Now it was Pakistan's turn, but fed up with the crowd's booing, the Pakistani players locked themselves in the dressing room. This continued for nearly an hour.
Runner-up's check thrown to the other sidePakistani captain Salman Agha then came on stage to collect the runner-up prize. When he was called for a question and answer session, he threw the runner-up check in front of Mohsin Naqvi. This is being widely discussed on social media. The Pakistani captain appeared quite upset after the match. When asked about the match, Salman Ali Agha said, "It's hard to digest. We couldn't finish well with the bat. We bowled brilliantly, but if we had finished well, it would have been a different story."
Salman Agha lashed out at the batsmenSpeaking about his batting, Agha said, "We need to get our batting in order. Our bowling was excellent, but our batting is a concern. I'm proud of my team, we're very proud as a unit, and we have a lot to look forward to." Earlier, his disappointment was evident while receiving the runner-up check. He threw it away after receiving it, indicating his disappointment with the match result. This entire incident occurred in front of Mohsin Naqvi, who was present on the podium.
India won the match despite many difficultiesTalking about the match, India won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan gave Pakistan a solid start, and they looked set for a strong total. Farhan was dismissed after scoring a half-century, but Zaman continued his good form. However, India, led by Kuldeep Yadav, made a strong comeback in the middle overs. The spinners took wickets in quick succession, sinking Pakistan. They lost nine wickets for 33 runs and were all out for 146.
Pakistan was not ready to give up easilyThe match looked set to be another one-sided contest between the two teams, but this time Pakistan wasn't ready to give up easily. Faheem Ashraf led his team to victory. He dealt a blow to India by taking the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill then departed in quick succession. At 20/3 in the first four overs, India once again appeared to be on the losing side. However, a partnership between Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson slowly helped India recover. Just when it seemed the pair would take India away from the match, Abrar Ahmed took the wicket of Samson, adding another twist to the story.
Shivam Dubey joined Tilak Verma at the crease. Dubey kept India in contention by delivering timely blows. However, he was dismissed before the final over, leaving Rinku Singh in charge. Tilak Verma remained at the crease until the end and, along with Rinku Singh at the other end, led India to their ninth Asia Cup title.
