Fans have shared their surprise over Timothee Chalamet's new look while filming an upcoming movie, with some even claiming that they barely recognise the actor.

The Dune and Wonka star is currently in New York City for the shooting of Marty Supreme. In the film, Chalamet plays the role of Marty Reisman, who was a real life American table tennis champion, winning the U.S. singles championship in 1958 and 1960 while also earning the title of U.S. hardbat champion in 1997.

Reisman won five bronze medals at the world championships throughout his career and wrote an autobiography called The Money Player: Confessions of America's Greatest Table Tennis Champion and Hustler before his death in 2012.

The film about Reisman is co-written and directed by Josh Safdie whose previous work includes the Adam Sandler starring Uncut Gems alongside his brother Benny.

While Chalamet plays a real life former sports star, the film is said to be more an original work of fiction about real people than a biopic.

The actor has now been spotted in costume as Reisman with many of his fans sharing their excitement online about both his look and the film.

HIs new look includes a pair of glasses and a thin moustache, with slicked back hair and a period costume that includes a navy sweater vest over a pale green shirt.

Fans were quick to react to the new look, with many praising Chalamet's appearance despite it being quite different from his usual attire.

One fan posted on X, formerly Twitter: "He looks amazing, his hair and character look is fantastic."

While another shared: "Timothee's always bringing the vibes! Can't wait."

Some seemed to find it hard to believe it was Chalamet with one posting: "I can barely recognise him, omg."

It's not the only upcoming film where Chalamet plays a real person either, as he is set to feature as iconic singer/songwriter Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
