Tennis legend has revealed that she has removed a "grapefruit" sized cyst from her neck - and told fans that she is "getting better."
The 43 year old sports star has been dealing with a cyst that " kept growing", for a while. Following a series of tests, she was given the all clear of it being malignant. But doctors were still worried that it could become infected or leak. And so it was at this point the mum of two underwent surgery and has now given her concerned and loyal fanbase a health update.
Posting a picture of herself in the hospital lying in bed, she captioned the post: "So this is me removing it. I am feeling so grateful, and fortunate everything worked out, and most of all I’m healthy." Serena, who has won the Grand Slam competition a whopping 23 times, added that she was "still recovering." She added: "Still recovering, but getting better."
The star, who married Reddit co-founder , retired from tennis in 2022 after the US Open. Over a span of 20 years, Serena reached legendary status. Earlier this month, the married mum of one, introduced her 13-month old daughter to the . The couple launched an Instagram account for Adira, who is the youngest sister of her seven year old sister, .

A message that accompanied the picture read: "Oh hello there - I know it’s been over a year but I’m just getting to this." This was Adira's first post to the world, in association with Serena and Alexis' accounts. The post had a number of pictures for fans to peruse through. In one picture, she is seen sitting in a pink high chair, while looking at the camera.
The other pictures include one of Adira in a pink onesie with her hand in her hair. Meanwhile in another she is seen attempting to take steps as she supports herself on a nearby sofa. Her Instagram bio says "Gummy Bear", alongside a host of emojis including a person running, a heart and a man at a computer - which could be seen as a nod to her parents' profession.
At the moment, Adira is only following four people including her parents and they are her auntie Venus and her older sister, Olympia. Olympia also has an Instagram account which made its debut shortly after her birth in 2017. And her account appears to have gone down a storm, as fans get to see her growing up in the spotlight.
