Hollow Knight: Silksong is undoubtedly a big deal, and it appears that Aggro Crab is attempting to stay ahead of the game as they brace for a potential drop in players.
If you've been online at all recently, you'll know that Peak has become the darling of communal gaming. Aggro Crab has always had its finger on the pulse of the industry as one of the most endearing development teams in gaming, and its latest climbing adventure, featuring haunted plushies and unimaginable horrors lurking across a delightful mountain to climb, has captivated millions of players.
The game, co-created by Another Crab's Treasure's team and Landfall Games, has been on an impressive ascent (pun intended) to the top of the Steam leaderboard. However, even it isn't immune to new games swooping in and stealing their players. This is what many expect EA to do to Black Ops 7 following the huge success of the Battlefield 6 betas.
The game's team seems to be accepting of this, leaving a cheeky message in its menus likely to make players feel less nostalgic about moving on to a completely different adventure. With the release date of Hollow Knight: Silksong now public, it seems the gaming industry is starting to feel the tremors.

Peak recognises peakPeak has left a message for its players following a minor update to reassure them that it's perfectly fine if a particular single-player adventure shoots to the top of their priority list.
Shared on the Gaming subreddit, u/CommodoreFiftyFour has disclosed in a fresh post that Peak's menu now features a new message informing players that the developers understand they'll be abandoning ship for Hollow Knight: Silksong imminently.
"The patch is live with some new fixes," it reads. "We hope you enjoy Peak for the next two weeks until you all move on to Silksong." At least the game is being brutally honest with itself.
Fans are naturally buzzing with anticipation now that the imminent Hollow Knight: Silksong release date has been unveiled, but in reality, Peak likely needn't fret about its player count as it continues deploying patches following its Mesa content update.
It also benefits from being a daft multiplayer experience, something that Silksong cannot, despite all its accolades, provide to its audience. Whether we'll witness genuine shifts in player numbers industry-wide remains to be seen, but it's hardly a pressing worry for Landfall, and it serves as an entertaining and endearing tribute to Team Cherry's work finally materialising.
Peak is standing firm – but if the entire gaming sector is poised to watch its players vanish for the sake of Hornet's quest, then perhaps the title's influence has already been established.
