Lady Gaga worried fans when she was forced to cancel her Mayhem Ball concert in Miami, Florida, after her doctor advised her to. The Alejandro star announced the news at the last minute, taking to her Instagram page to apologise to fans as she explained the reason behind the cancellation.
She said: "Hi everyone, I am really so, so sorry, but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami. During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight, my voice was extremely strained and both my doctor and vocal coach have advised me not to go on because of the risk it poses.
"I want to be hardcore and just push through this for you, but I don’t want to risk long-term or permanent damage to my vocal cords."

The star continued: "There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours, and as you know, I sing live every night. Even though this was a hard and agonizing decision, I would be more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice.
"I hope you can forgive me and accept my sincerest apologies for any disappointment, letdown, or inconvenience. I am so, so sorry. I tried so hard to avoid this and I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show.
"I love my fans so much, respect you, and hope you can accept my sincere, regretful apology. We are trying to reschedule the show as quickly as possible."
Lady Gaga has been open about her health in the past, and revealed eight years ago that she has fibromyalgia, which is a chronic illness that causes widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive problems.
FibromyalgiaHer illness has caused tour cancellations over the years, but her fans have always been understanding about the situation.
Speaking to Vogue, Gaga previously said: "I get so irritated with people who don’t believe fibromyalgia is real. People need to be more compassionate. Chronic pain is no joke. And it’s every day waking up not knowing how you’re going to feel.”
The Abracadabra star once said she took mental health medication to help her, during her 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
"I take an anti-psychotic. [If I didn't take it] I would spiral very frequently and I would spasm in my sleep," she said. "Medicine really helped me. A lot of people are afraid of medicine for their brains to help them. I really want to erase the stigma around this."
Anti-psychotic medication isn't recommended for fibromyalgia. In 2024, Gaga said her 2022 tour was the first time she 'performed not in pain'.
"I did it pain-free. I've like, changed," the star said before adding she hasn't 'smoked pot' in years, having previously smoked to help ease the pain.
Mental HealthGaga has used her music as a way to express her struggles with mental health issues. Her song, Dance in the Dark, talks about body dysmorphia, while Marry the Night is about reckless partying used as a form of escapism.
Meanwhile, Till It Happens to You opens up about the PTSD from sexual assault. "I would say that my mental health always played a really powerful role in making music," she said.
"Because it was always when I was at my lowest that I wanted to sing. And that meant that I was feeling that way pretty often, because I sang a lot. I would write music and sing from a place of feeling lost, and it would help me ground myself and find my own voice to tell my story.”
The Sour Candy musician once shared details of her mental health struggles and the pain she carried since being raped as a teenager. She was 19 years old when a male music producer raped her after threatening to burn her music if she didn't listen.
Gaga claimed her alleged rapist "dropped me off pregnant on a corner... because I was vomiting and sick". A few years later, she suffered a "total psychotic break" and was in an "ultra state of paranoia".
"I [couldn't] feel my own body," she recalled on the first episode of Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry's Apple TV+ series, The Me You Can't See. "First, I felt full-on pain, then I felt numb, and then I was sick for weeks after.
"I realised that it was the same pain that I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on a corner, at my parents' house, because I was vomiting and sick. Because I had been being abused, and I was locked away in a studio for months."
