Emmy Awards viewers were shocked as they all agreed this beloved comedy star was snubbed at this year’s ceremony.
The 77th edition of the prestigious awards took place yesterday (Sunday, 14th September) at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
They celebrated the year of primetime TV programming between June 2024 and May 2025, with plenty of the year’s favourites taking home trophies.

It was a record-breaking night as Apple TV+ series The Studio became the most-nominated first-year comedy series, surpassing Ted Lasso, while 15-year-old Adolescence breakout Owen Cooper is now the youngest winner of the award for lead actor in a limited series.
However, despite leading the charge with a staggering 27 nominations, Apple’s hit drama series Severance was also the subject of one of the awards show’s biggest controversy.
Many fans felt comedy icon Adam Scott’s performance as Mark Scout was snubbed in favour of ER star Noah Wyle picking up a lead actor trophy for returning to the medical world in HBO’s The Pitt.
Parks and Recreation star Scott portrays two versions of the same character in Apple’s cerebral sci-fi series that follows a team of office workers who have had their memories ‘severed’ between work and home.
He also failed to take home a trophy when he was nominated for the same award for Severance’s first season in 2022.
“If Adam Scott can’t win off of that performance, he’ll never win an Emmy,” one fan of the show lamented on Reddit.

To which another user replied: “As much as I loved The Pitt/ Noah’s performance, Scott essentially played two different characters and made you root for them both.”
The backlash continued on X, where one fan slammed the awards: “Justice for Adam Scott - man, he blew everyone out the water and this was such a snub.”
Another took their complaints further: “Americans are definitely dumb and I guess they don’t understand Severance. Adam Scott not winning the #Emmy was the biggest snub.”
Someone else fumed: “Seriously I don’t know what else Adam Scott/ Severance needs to do to win. I’m still absolutely baffled.”
While another viewer admitted: “Noah Wyle deserves it too, but I also think Adam Scott was phenomenal.”
Despite the perceived snub, Severance fans still had reason to celebrate as the second season took home eight awards out of its 27 nominations.
This included a lead actress award for Scott’s co-star Britt Lower and a supporting actor gong for Tramell Tillman.
Severance is available to stream on Apple TV+.
