Of what happened between him and Aidan, John recalled: "I tried my best to save him. I told him I could but I was lying, I had to. I could see the fear in his eyes. I held his hand as he slowly slipped away.

"Aidan thought I could save him and I let him down. I can never forgive myself for that." We also know that John has tried to save multiple people, including Nate who eventually was killed by John in a shock twist.

Tonight, as John supported Harry after he fell ill due to the slurry leak, nearby Cathleen kept a watchful eye on her son Aidan. In the final moments of tonight's episode, as Cathleen fussed around her son, his eyes suddenly shot open.
