Capital FM DJ rushed to hospital with terrifying illness immediately after giving birth

Capital FM star Aimee Vivian has been rushed to hospital with a life threatening illness just weeks after giving birth. The radio host, 34, welcomed her first child last month but has now been hospitalised with sepsis.

According to the NHS, sepsis is a life threatening illness that can be hard to spot. It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs.

Aimee was hospitalised on Sunday and explained she had been experiencing mastitis - where the breast becomes swollen, hot and painful. In a worrying update with fans, she shared: "Thank you all for you kind messages.

"Little update, I am still in hospital after being admitted on Sunday and developing sepsis. There's still a lot of unanswered questions and things to get a hold on, so when I can I'll be more open and I'll be looking into working with mastitis charities to spread awareness on it."

Despite still being in hospital, Aimee shared her wishes to help others. She continued: "We know how underfunded women's health is, but seriously things have got to change.

"If men produced milk, pushing through the pain of a blocked duct, mastitis etc wouldn't be a thing. If anyone works for/knows charities or companies, let me know as I'd love to touch base once this is all over."

The DJ revealed her pain at being apart from her newborn daughter, Charli Carter just weeks after giving birth. "Not being with your baby in the first month of their life is the most unnatural and abnormal thing," she heartbreakingly wrote.

"Literally count down the minutes in the morning till she gets here and dread her leaving at night. But focusing all my energy on getting better for her."

Aimee finished by sharing her support to her husband, who she likes to keep out of the spotlight. "Lastly to my superhuman husband, thank you. Without you, I would have broken."

Just last month, Aimee shared the exciting news she had welcomed her baby girl. She made her exciting announcement after being notably absent from Capital FM's Summertime Ball with her co-stars.

Alongside a photo of her at the event previously, she shared: "Wishing my @capitalofficial & all of you an amazing Summertime ball day. Sad to miss it but as you might of guessed by my silence on here, our new little addition has arrived so we have very much been in our newborn love bubble.

"Swapping backstage at Wembley for watching on YouTube with milk in one hand and a nappy in the other this year. Update on baby soon x." She then shared a sweet update as she revealed her baby girl's name alongside the first photo. Aimee gushed: "Charli Carter. The girl who stole my heart forever."

The radio host announced her pregnancy back in February in a sweet black and white video. She presented a cake that said "coming soon" alongside a scan photo and a pair of adorable little boots.
