How does a spoiled egg cause a liver abscess?
A liver abscess is a lump of pus in the liver. This infection is caused by bacteria, parasites, or fungi. Eating spoiled eggs causes bacteria like Salmonella or Entamoeba to grow in the stomach. These cause infection in the stomach and then travel through the bloodstream to the liver, causing pus accumulation there. According to experts, if the immune system is weakened, this infection can spread rapidly and cause dangerous damage to the liver. Experts say that if not treated promptly, a tumor in the liver can rupture, spreading the infection throughout the body, a condition known as sepsis. This increases the risk of death by 10 to 20 percent. However, with timely diagnosis and treatment, 90 percent of patients recover.
