In a significant boost to India’s freight infrastructure, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has successfully launched an Open Web Steel Girder measuring 110.5 meters in length and weighing approximately 1500 tonnes at Kalamboli, on the JNPT–NILJE section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). This Rail Flyover (RFO) stands as the longest of its kind constructed by DFCCIL to date.
The launch involved the intricate engineering task of radial shifting the massive girder by 32 meters over the Indian Railways track — a complex operation demonstrating advanced construction techniques and precise execution.
The milestone event was graced by the presence of Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, who witnessed the launch and commended the engineering teams and stakeholders for their exceptional coordination and flawless execution of the project.
This achievement underlines DFCCIL’s unwavering commitment to developing world-class freight infrastructure and fortifying the logistics backbone of the nation.
