Indore Municipal's LoP Chintu Chouksey Raises Red Flag Over Corruption & Mismanagement In Indore, Writes To BJP State President

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Leader of the Opposition in Indore Municipal Corporation, Chintu Chouksey, has penned a scathing letter to the newly appointed Madhya Pradesh BJP president, Hemant Khandelwal, urging immediate action to free Indore from alleged corruption and administrative chaos.

In the letter, Chouksey extends congratulations to Khandelwal on his new role but quickly shifts focus to what he terms as the “hollow reality” behind Indore’s clean city image. “While Indore is often celebrated as the cleanest city in India, internally it is plagued by corruption, disorder, and administrative neglect,” the letter states.

Referring to the BJP's 25-year control over the city's municipal governance, Chouksey accused the ruling party of failing to address core civic issues despite repeated promises. “Residents have only received broken roads, water shortages, power cuts, and scams,” he claimed.

Highlighting the alleged dire state of essential services, Chouksey pointed to the crumbling road infrastructure, severe traffic mismanagement, and irregular garbage collection, calling them symbols of systemic failure. “Devas-Indore Bypass has turned into a daily crisis and five lifetimes’ worth of taxes have been paid with no visible development,” he added.

Smart City project under scrutiny

Chouksey also questioned the effectiveness of the Rs 1,000 crore Smart City Project, claiming that much of the expenditure exists only on paper. He alleged that corrupt practices and fake documentation have become common in municipal operations.

“From tendering scams to ghost files worth crores, the system is now synonymous with looting the public,” Chouksey wrote, adding that the citizens' tax money is being misused without accountability.

A call for immediate action

Emphasizing that Indore is the pride of the BJP and a crucial political hub, Chouksey urged Khandelwal to treat the situation with seriousness and initiate a campaign to root out corruption and disorder. “You have the power and the responsibility. Only your impactful intervention can restore Indore to its rightful place as an ideal city,” he concluded.
