Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The partially burnt body of an elderly woman was found in the fields in Hinotia village on Thursday. The woman was a resident of a nearby colony and had left home late in the night on Wednesday. Police officials said that the angles of investigation would include both murder and suicide.
The post-mortem examination report would ascertain the exact circumstances and cause of the woman’s death, they added. Locals in Hinotia Alam village under Kolar police station spotted the body on Thursday and informed the police.
The unidentified and partially burnt body barely had any clothes on and police said that they were burnt. Senior police officials reached the spot and called the FSL team for investigations. The FSL team collected samples from the scene while the body was sent to the mortuary.
Late in the evening, the body was identified as that of Urmila Shukla (62), wife of retired Jansampark employee Ramkrishna Shukla who died a few years back.
TI Kolar police station Sanjay Soni said primary investigations revealed that the aged woman lived with one of her two sons Vivek Shukla and his family at Saumya Evergreen Colony which was close to the spot where her body was found.
Vivek works in Nagpur. His mother was living with her daughter-in-law. In the CCTV footage, Urmila Shukla is seen entering the lift of the building alone at around 1.30 AM but she is not seen returning.
The circumstances under which she reached the fields and died are still to be ascertained. All angles, including foul play and suicide by the aged woman are under investigation. The family members were being questioned to ascertain the circumstances under which she left the flat alone in the night, the TI added.
