Rama means "Mother Lakshmi," and therefore, on this day, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped along with Lord Vishnu. This year, the Rama Ekadashi fast will be observed on October 17th. When does Ekadashi Tithi begin?
Pandit Ji explains that according to the Kashi Rishikesh Panchang, Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month begins at 10:35 am on October 16th and continues until 11:12 am on October 17th. The fast will be observed on October 17th, while the breaking of the fast will be done between 6:24 am and 8:41 am on October 18th. On this day, the Sun will transit from Virgo to Libra, creating a special conjunction for Libra Sankranti.
What to do on Rama Ekadashi?
Pandit Ji explains that on Rama Ekadashi, take a bath in the morning and take a vow to fast, then worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. During worship, offer Tulsi leaves to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. Also, light a lamp under the Tulsi tree in the evening, and if possible, listen to the Satyanarayan Katha at night. Doing so will increase happiness and prosperity in the home, and Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi will always reside in the home. All sins will be absolved.
