Send Push
Netflix’s hit series Wednesday is officially returning with its second season, and fans were treated to several major revelations at the Tudum 2025 event held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Among the highlights was the surprise release of the opening six minutes from the new season and the long-rumored casting of Lady Gaga, who has now been confirmed to appear as a teacher at Nevermore Academy.

Opening Scene Brings Chaos and Suspense

The newly released six-minute sequence plunges viewers directly into the show's dark tone, with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams once again at the center of a murder mystery. In the opening moments, Wednesday is shown trapped in a basement by a serial killer, played by Haley Joel Osment, who mistakenly believes she is his next victim.

The scene quickly sets the tone for the season—murder, serial killers, and eerie suspense. Osment’s appearance as a doll collector was an unexpected addition that thrilled fans online.

Lady Gaga Makes Entrance
In a dramatic moment during the Tudum event, the cast appeared on stage to confirm that global music icon Lady Gaga will be part of Wednesday Season 2. Emerging from a coffin inscribed with “Here lies the monster queen,” Gaga delivered a live performance of “Zombieboy” from her album Mayhem. She later returned to perform “Abracadabra” after a choreographed piece to “Goo Goo Muck,” the same track that featured in Wednesday’s viral dance from Season 1.

Her role was filmed in Ireland and completed in a single day. Although her character’s full details remain under wraps, it has been confirmed she will play a teacher at Nevermore. Gaga’s casting comes after her viral association with the series, when a remix of her song “Bloody Mary” was used alongside Wednesday’s dance scene, which she later recreated on TikTok.

Star-Studded Ensemble Joins the Mayhem
Season 2 of Wednesday will feature a host of new cast members. Joining the show as series regulars are Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Guest stars will include Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. Returning cast members include Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.

The upcoming season will be split into two parts. The first half is set to premiere on August 6, followed by the second part on September 3. The show continues to follow Wednesday Addams as she navigates her life at Nevermore Academy. According to the official synopsis, “Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.”

Creative Team and Filming Details
The show’s original creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, return as showrunners. Tim Burton also resumes his role as executive producer and co-director alongside Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. The new season was filmed in Ireland, continuing the series’ commitment to a richly atmospheric setting.

Following its record-breaking debut in 2022, Wednesday became the most-viewed English-language series in Netflix’s history, racking up over 252 million views. It spent 20 consecutive weeks in the platform’s global Top 10, launching Jenna Ortega into international stardom. Expectations for Season 2 are high, and the preview suggests the show intends to maintain its intense, darkly comic tone.
