A 25-year-old marketing professional from South Bombay (SoBo), Anhadh, recently went viral after sharing that she earns Rs 2.67 lakh per month, and now, she’s revealed how she got there so early in her career.
In a video that took the internet by storm, Anhadh broke down her monthly expenses and mentioned her Rs 40 lakh annual package. While some people applauded her success, others doubted her claims. So, she decided to tell her full story, from unpaid internships to a high-paying remote job in India.
From Rs 0 in NYC to Rs 75 Lakh Per Year
After graduating in 2024, Anhadh moved to New York City, chasing her dream job. Her first gig? An unpaid internship at an Indian grocery store, where she did branding work and manual tasks without a salary.
Eventually, she landed a proper job at a marketing agency, but it still wasn’t ideal. She was paid just $20 an hour, barely enough to survive in New York. After several months, she was finally offered a full-time position with an annual salary of $60,000 (around Rs 51 lakh).
Despite this, she said, “I was still pretty much in the trenches.”
From Rs 75 Lakh in NYC to Rs 40 Lakh in Mumbai
In April 2024, she got a better offer, $75,000 a year (around Rs 64 lakh). But even with the higher pay, the visa issues and mental stress pushed her to return to India.
Her company allowed her to continue working remotely, adjusting her salary to India’s cost of living. Since October 2024, she has been earning Rs 40 lakh annually, which translates to Rs 2.67 lakh per month after taxes.
‘It’s Not All Rainbows’
Anhadh admitted that her setup isn’t glamorous. She lives with her parents in South Mumbai, so she doesn’t pay rent, grocery, or utility bills. More than half of her salary goes into SIPs, and the rest covers dining, self-care, and a “mystery fund.”
“It’s not all rainbows and butterflies,” she said, adding that she plans to share the pros and cons of this lifestyle in a future video.
