A 39-year-old man, Vijay Kumar, was allegedly murdered by his wife’s lover in Machohalli village, located in the north-west part of Bengaluru, on Monday night, as reported by TOI. Vijay Kumar, a resident of D Group Layout in Machohalli and originally from Magadi, was attacked about 500 meters from his home.
Police have detained Vijay’s wife, Asha, her lover Dhananjay, and several others for questioning. According to authorities, Dhananjay and Vijay were childhood friends and both worked as auto drivers. Vijay was also involved in real estate brokerage, assisting people with house rentals.
Vijay and Asha had been married for 10 years and have two children. Over time, Dhananjay developed an extramarital relationship with Asha, frequently visiting Vijay’s home. After Vijay discovered the affair, he moved his family to D Group Layout and warned both Asha and Dhananjay to end their relationship, but Asha continued contact with Dhananjay. The couple often fought over the matter.
Vijay obtained photos of Asha and Dhananjay together. It is alleged that Asha and Dhananjay conspired to kill Vijay to continue their relationship freely. When Vijay left his house, the attackers followed and fatally hacked him with weapons including a machete before fleeing the scene.
Some associates of Vijay claimed the attackers later took him to a location near his home for a party, but police have dismissed this information.
Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru District, CK Baba told TOI, “A few suspects, including the wife of the deceased and his childhood friend, have been detained and subjected to questioning. We will be arresting the accused at the earliest, and further investigation is in progress. Prima facie, it is learned that the murder was over an extramarital affair.”
The Madanayakanahalli police are currently investigating the murder case, TOI reported.
