Match Overview
The Wankhede Stadium will be hosting the encounter between the two biggest rivals in the IPL as the Mumbai Indians (MI) clash with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The are already in a tough spot, being seventh on the points table with three wins and four losses in the seven games they have featured in. They have won back-to-back matches right now and will need to maintain their winning streak in the upcoming match to stand a good chance of qualification.
Speaking of tough positions, the CSK side has not had the best of seasons as well and are languishing at the bottom of the table with two wins and five losses. Though the season has not really gone according to plan, they will also remember in the back of their mind that they have a four-game winning streak against the Boys in Blue and will want to maintain that in this Super Sunday encounter.
Predicted impact players for Mumbai Indians (MI)- Rohit Sharma- MI legend Rohit Sharma might not be in the best of form, where even though he has had some great starts, he has failed to convert them. However, the team will still back him and most likely continue him as an impact sub.
- Ashwani Kumar- The left-arm pacer had one of the best debuts in the IPL, and suppose MI have to defend a total, his variation and ability to execute yorkers can be a huge advantage to the side.
- Corbin Bosch- The Wankhede wicket might need that one extra player that can add some depth to the eleven. Bosch can either come in in case of a batting collapse and could also be an extra bowling option for the team.
- Vignesh Puthur- The Wankhede Stadium may not provide much assistance to spinners but there is always a need for one bowler who lures the batters into taking risks and Puthur has that ability.
- Shivam Dube- The Yellow Army has been using Shivam Dube as an impact sub in this tournament and will most likely continue with the same strategy with the all-rounder, especially at the Wankhede, where his big hits will be handy.
- Dewald Brevis- The talented batter might have just come in as a replacement but knows the conditions at Wankhede which can lead to the CSK side picking him as an impact sub.
- Kamlesh Nagarkoti- The CSK team has always been a side where certain players make a comeback, and the young pacer and U19 World Cup winner might get his opportunity in this game.
- Shreyas Gopal- Apart from Noor Ahmad, none of the CSK spinners have been taking wickets regularly and this might be an opportunity for Shreyas Gopal who has some experience at Wankhede and has shown his ability to make crucial breakthroughs in the past as well.
