Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 11 (ANI): Ahead of the Kumbh Mela scheduled for January 2025 in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted special training for sailors on Sunday, providing them with detailed instructions on how to carry out rescue and relief operations in the event of drowning incidents.
The training also covered CPR, first aid, and the proper handling of safety equipment. Sailors were taught how to use various safety tools and perform medical interventions effectively.

NDRF inspector Anil Kumar said that a total of 20 teams would be deployed during the Kumbh Mela to prevent any casualties.
"With the Maha Kumbh approaching, we are ensuring proper training for the sailors to avoid any casualties. The NDRF team is prepared for the Kumbh Mela, with 20 teams being deployed. Today, two NDRF teams conducted training to teach sailors how to carry out rescue operations in case of drowning or other medical emergencies," Kumar told ANI.

A sailor shared his thoughts on the training, saying, "We were taught how to carry out rescue operations in case of drowning. They also taught us CPR and provided us with knowledge on how to use medical equipment."
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been put in place by the water police to prevent untoward incidents during the bathing rituals. High-tech jet skis, referred to as "mini-ships," are also being deployed for this purpose. These jet skis are capable of reaching areas quickly.

Following the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, select officials are finalizing preparations for the event, including enhancing the water police's security infrastructure.
As per Janardan Prasad Sahni, in-charge of the Water Police at Qila Police Station, 25 high-tech jet skis would be joining the water police fleet by December to ensure the safety of devotees during the Mahakumbh.
These mini vessels, introduced for the first time, can travel at speeds of up to 70 km/h, enabling quick assistance to devotees, regardless of distance.
The Mahakumbh will begin with the Paush Purnima Snan on January 13, 2025, and conclude on February 26, 2025, with the last bath on Mahashivratri. (ANI)
