New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): A major obstacle in the completion of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor of Metro Phase-IV, unresolved since 2020, has finally been addressed. Delhi LG, VK Saxena, has approved the acquisition of 1,688 sq. m of land in Khanpur Village, South Delhi.
In another significant move, the LG has also approved the transfer of 1,600 sq. m of land belonging to the Education Department to the DMRC for one year, at a rent of Rs13,37,135. This decision will facilitate the construction of an interchange station on the RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors of the Delhi Metro.
The vacant land will be used for the construction of the underground station at Idgah Road, which will be named Nabi Karim Metro Station. The station will be constructed beneath the land being transferred to DMRC, and once construction is completed, the land will be returned to the Education Department.
The land acquisition at Khanpur had been pending for over four years, with DMRC making the request on July 7, 2020. Following the acquisition, the critical section of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Metro Corridor is expected to be completed within a year. This development will greatly ease the commute for residents of the densely populated areas of South-East Delhi, providing easier access to the airport and other locations along the route, while also addressing the issue of persistent traffic jams on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road.
Similarly, once completed, the Nabi Karim interchange station at Idgah Road will provide seamless metro travel for commuters using the heavily traversed RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors of the Delhi Metro. (ANI)
