Heavy rains hit parts of UAE on Thursday, August 21, with more rains predicted for Friday.
Videos circulating on social media saw cars make their way through torrential downpours, as visibility on desert roads dropped almost to zero.

The rains are mostly concentrated around Al Ain City and the surrounding roads.

Abu Dhabi police issued a warning to motorists, urging caution in the face of unstable weather, and while driving on rain-slick roads.
Earlier, the authority warned residents to stay away from valley areas, which are particularly vulnerable during heavy rains.
The National Centre of Meteorology in the UAE (NCM) issued orange and yellow alerts in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

The department also issued a warning to residents, stressing that "precautions should be taken" during the heavy rainfall. It added that the descending wind "may be associated with microbursts and can reduce horizontal visibility." Residents have been advised to "stay away" from susceptible to landslides.
