From UPI to Tatkal ticket booking, many rules are going to change from today i.e. July 1, 2025. A major change in these changes is related to the Tatkal ticket. From today, if your Aadhaar number is not linked to your IRCTC account, then you will not be able to book tickets and not only this, an Aadhaar verification through the Aadhaar number will also be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets. In such a situation, if you are making a common mistake with your phone number, then you will not be able to book a train ticket. Let us understand in detail what is the common mistake that people make with their number and how you will not be able to book a train ticket because of that.
What is the common mistake with phone numbers?
Many of us make a common mistake with our phone number and that is not recharging our phone for a long time. By doing this, your number may be temporarily closed or the company may allot it to someone else. If you have registered this number with IRCTC, bank, or other important services linked to your Aadhaar number, then you will not be able to get OTP and neither will you be able to complete the verification. This will have a direct impact on booking Tatkal tickets and accessing your IRCTC account.
How to avoid mistakes?
If you do not want your IRCTC account to be closed or you are unable to book Tatkal tickets due to not being able to do Aadhaar verification, then first of all keep that number which is linked to your Aadhaar number. This is because you will need OTP to link your number to your IRCTC account to book Tatkal tickets. This OTP will come on the same number which is linked to your Aadhaar number. In such a situation, if the phone number linked to your Aadhaar number is closed for a long time, then make it active by doing a foreign recharge.
What to do next?
In a situation where the number linked to your Aadhaar is not the main number, keep recharging it for some time to keep it always active or allotted in your name. If for any reason it is not possible to do so, then to avoid any problem in the future, get your phone number linked with Aadhaar updated with the number which you mainly use and keep active.
